George: If you have some free time, try to have access to three brazilian traditional grammmars: The one written by Celso Cunha,the second By Evanildo Bechara and the third, by Rocha Lima. The first and the latest will be easier to you - the creator of LFN - to understand, as the two languages have similar structure and vocabulary. As you are a Profesor in an University, and USA has nice Libraries, I think it will not be difficult for you to find them. Antonio told the main differences, but I'll add more information when I have time - probably tomorrow. If you want to see the differences in Spanish it will be easier as there are a lot of american people whose parents were born in spanish speaking countries - like Mexico - and so I am sure there are good translations, into english, of good spanish grammars.
