Jarley Frieb | Re: [LFN] Re: a new LFN word each day for beginners: io / me

Sometimes foreign people who knows portuguese try to
find an word, or an expression, equivalent to the word
"saudade"; some of them use "nostalgia", but for me
"nostalgia" is a feeling related with something you
have seen or lived; "saudade" maybe related with it
too, but is more abstract, it is not necessary
connected with a past moment...
For example: I miss a lot a friend of mine who is
living in Japan since last year; if I remember the
good times I spent with her - she is a close friend -
I would feel "nostalgia", but if i just want to be
near her, without remembering a specific moment, if
this kind of "miss something" is a kind of feeling
that means that I am missing her almost "physically",
it would be, for me, "saudade".
I never thought how difficult is to define a word
meaning...
Bon voles!
